History of “Sumida River Fireworks Festival”

This most historic firework display “Sumida River Fireworks Festival” was original a mourn for life loosen in the The Great Famine of Kyoho, 1732. It is said that General Tokugawa Yoshimune first added this firework display at the time of “Shinkin(God of Water) festival” on the Ryōgoku Bridge. Now the fireworks are launched both in the 1st venue (Sakura Bridge – Jyobashi Bridge) and 2nd venue (Komagata Bridge-Ohashi Bridge), and having a firework competition at the same time.

Using traditional  ingredients such as seasonal vegetables of Japanese and Provencal.  In the coming season, professional cuisine dishes will be served that the chef’s inspiration creates, you can taste the summer taste. The nearest stations after the fireworks festival are crowded every year to wait for about 1 hour. Near the Tokyo Sky Tree, there is a famous Yakitori(Grill Chicken) restaurant. Chef Masayoshi Komino opened “Yakitori Omino” after 6 years training in Michelin 1-star Yakitori restaurant “Torishiki”, the master of Japanese traditional Yakitori. The selected chicken “DATE Chicken” used are from contracted ordered farm. Since chicken is wholly provided, rare parts like Achilles tendon, meat flesh, and liver are also available here. The rare parts are limited and would be finished early, but you can ask to keep them when you decided the reservation. The chef’s Omakase course is mainly the Grills cooked by Charcoal, combining with small dishes.

※ If stormy weather happened the firework display would be delayed to July 30th, 2017 (Sun). There is a possibility of cancellation if the weather in both day are not good.

For raining or other unpreferred weather: 10:00 AM the day
