■Notice from Nihonbashi OIKAWA
We are closed for renovation until early July. We will reopen in mid-July.
Nihonbashi OIKAWA is a Kyoto Kaiseki restaurant located near Nihonbashi Station on the Asakusa subway line, and within walking distance to Tokyo Station. The restaurant features a small interior equipped with only eight counter seats and few private rooms. It is extremely popular that listed on the top position of the Japanese cuisine reservation ranking of the Japanese site of Pocket Concierge for the first half of 2016. At this restaurant, guests are able to enjoy delicious food and witty conversations with the young and friendly restaurant owner.
Nihonbashi OIKAWA offers dishes that feature both Japanese and Western with the use of hand-picked ingredients sourced from Tsukiji every morning, and fresh vegetables from Kyoto. The chef pays great attention to detail by creating a selection of dishes that are especially suited to the tastes of the guests. For example, he prepares special menu for overseas guests, including the popular "grilled black cod in Saikyo Miso" and "Kyoto beef," as well as the rice course "takikomi gohan (seasoned rice)." In addition, as can be expected of traditional Japanese course meals, matcha will be prepared at the end of the meal, also a pot of "closing steamed rice" will be offered to each group of guests.
The restaurant has been designed in the style of a traditional Japanese house, offering private rooms with tatami flooring and tables for up to eight people —a perfect setting for dinner among adults. The restaurant space is quite often used as a venue for families of couples to meet for the first time, being perfect also for spending a relaxing time with friends or for providing some stylish business dining.
