Erba da nakahigashi."Erba" means "grass" in Italian. This daring restaurant name comes from the thinking of chef Toshifumi Nakahigashi, in whose blood runs the culinary heritage of Sojiki Nakahigashi, the famous Michelin two-star restaurant at the pinnacle of Kyoto cuisine. His philosophy is that "All the ingredients exist so that diners can enjoy each season's grasses, which is to say, vegetables, to the full." After learning his trade at the Michelin two-star Ristorante Arnolfo in Tuscany, Italy, and at the three-star Restaurant Alain Ducasse au Plaza Athenee in Paris, France, this young chef took on his latest challenge in 2016 in a basement right beside Hiroo station in the heart of Nishi Azabu, one of the fiercest battlegrounds for restaurateurs.

"I simply want people to experience delicious foods just as they are", he explains as he serves his tour de force, his own specially selected full course menu. The steamed and roasted cocotte of Kyoto vegetables allows you to savor every aspect of their flavor thanks to the chef's finely honed skills throughout the process: choosing the ingredients, cooking them to just the right degree, seasoning, and serving. Novel ways to delight the diner, such as sucking up the minestrone with a siphon, have also captivated Nakahigashi fans.

The seats at the counter overlooking the open kitchen, from which you can enjoy watching how foreign chefs prepare the food while chatting with them, offer the best views and have become the face of the restaurant. A private room for six diners and a semi-private room for two diners are also available, making this famous restaurant perfect for a wide range of situations, from business entertaining to dates or dinner with close friends.
