A restaurant where you can enjoy seasonal dishes and tempura that is fried in front of you
■ “Gion Hasegawa”, which was loved for 6 years in Kiritoshi, relocated and reopened as “Gion Tempura Kappo Hasegawa” in Tominaga-cho in March 2017, and there you can enjoy seasonal tempura and cuisines.
Mr. Hasegawa became independent in 2010 after extensive training in Kyoto sushi and culinary cuisines at Japanese restaurants. The concept of “a restaurant people can say was fun since you can be comfortable” hasn’t changed even after the restaurant’s relocation. He mentioned that he wants people to enjoy the taste and texture of “tempura” just as much as “Japanese cuisines” in general. Now that “Gion Tempura Kappo Hasegawa” has an open kitchen, you can enjoy tempura in its best state since it is fried at the counter in front of you. In addition, “A bowl of Earthenware Pot Seasonal Rice” using different ingredients according to the season, continues to be popular among regular customers from the old location. You can now choose between “A bowl of Earthenware Pot Seasonal Rice” and “A bowl of Fried Fish on Rice”.
They have 10 seats at its spacious counter, where you can spend some relaxing moments. The private room featuring a sunken kotatsu seats 4 people and is decorated with an apprentice geisha’s paper fan, giving it a Gion-style atmosphere. The warm and friendly owner’s hospitality allows anyone to freely visit “Gion” comfortably.
