A Kyoto-style restaurant located near Yasaka Shrine. Must try Chef Saiki's broth and rice.

The first-generation of 'Saikiya'was founded in 1934. Since 2009, it has been moved to the Gion and Shimokawaramachi area, which is close to Yasaka Shrine and Kiyomizu Temple. The third-generation owner, Mr. Saiki, renaming it to 'Jikishinbo Saiki' as a Kyoto cuisine restaurant. Located in a popular touristic area, the shop continues to serve guests in its traditional, classical atmosphere.

What you must try here is Chef Saiki's broth and rice. The broth richly draws out the flavor of the ingredients that go into it. With his experience and sensibilities to be unsparing in his pursuit of technique, Chef Saiki majored in Agriculture at Kyoto University in order to discover the taste from the basis. Studying under Dr. Toru Fushiki, the standard bearer for "taste studies" in Japan, he graduated with a Master's degree in 2015. In this way, his curiosity and pursuit of the medium are unsparing.

We recommend dining at the counter, where you could watch the chef's skills and enjoy the movement of food being prepared, as well as sample the wafting aromas. This instant while you wait for the food is simply blissful. Truly get the most out of Kyoto cuisine, you must savor it with the five senses.
