First of all, the hospitality we received at the restaurant was amazing. As many of our guests came from overseas & could not speak Japanese, the fact that all the servers have a superb command of English really helped us with the dining experience. We had the opportunity to try out some of the secret family recipes from Honke Tankuma's restaurant owners including the "Hamo" fish (a local Kyoto delicacy), and the sake we were served fitted very, very well with the cuisine. Cost performance for this restaurant is extremely high - for the same amount of money, it is difficult to get the same level of service in other locations outside of Kyoto, not to mention outside of Japan. We are extremely pleased with the service, and would looking forward to coming back for our wedding anniversary dinners/lunches.
