An Italian restaurant that uses organic ingredients from Shinshu in Satoyama, Karuizawa

L'ombra will be relocated to the Satoyama area in Karuizawa in July 2020. While keeping the concept of "Local dishes from Italy" from the Roppongi era before the relocation, they use Shinshu's abundant ingredients from organic fields, rivers, and magnificent mountains. At the new L'ombra, you can enjoy authentic Italian cuisine that can only be enjoyed here, as well as the superb view of Mt. Asama.

The chef is Ushio Yutaka. After graduating from high school, he worked for more than 10 years in Italy, focusing on restaurants with stars. After serving as the head chef at Kyoto Art Monzen Hotel, he became the head chef of L'ombra. In addition to the techniques cultivated in Italy, they also add Japanese cuisine, and serve light and beautiful dishes that are comfortable with salt.
As for vegetables, the chef himself goes to a contracted farmer's field to pick chemical-free vegetables. They are more particular than ever about the purchase of meat, and they have various kinds such as Japanese beef, pork and chicken from various places in Shinshu, Joshu beef from Gunma prefecture, Duck meat from Kagoshima prefecture, etc. The fish is selected by the chef's own judgment at the market in Takasaki. The dishes are studded with the skills of the chef who came from a Japanese restaurant with stars, and many customers say, "Another helping!".

The white styled interior is lined with vintage furniture from the 1950's to the 60's and has an atmosphere of a winery in Tuscany or Piemonte in Italy. There are also dishes and cloths with a "RATTA RATTARR" design that warms the body temperature . These products can also be purchased at the shop "NATUR HOME".

There are table seats for 10 people in the well-ventilated room and table seats for 6 people on the deck outside. The garden, where you can enjoy the flowers and plants of each season, received the Grand Greening Award sponsored by Daiichi Life Insurance Company in 2020. Children and dogs are allowed on the deck seats. Even under the condition of COVID-19, you can enjoy the meal in the well-ventilated indoor seat or the deck seat that is completely outside. It can be reserved for up to 2 - 25 people, and is also recommended for special occasions such as family dinners, birthday parties, and marriage proposals.
