The owner - Kaoru Namba - opened this restaurant in 1996 after training at places such as ""Uenozushi"" of Hiroshima and ""Sushiei"" of Toyama.

Sushi of ""Sushi Namba"" are made guest by guest, with ingredients and style that match each person. For example, local customers might receive rare fish sourced from as far as the Tsukiji fish market, whereas guests from outside Toyama may receive fresh fish unique to the Toyama region. Each guest is presented with sushi that best matches them in a way that is practically bespoke. The rice is directly sourced from farmers in Toyama, and the vinegar used is a blend of rice vinegar and brewed vinegar. As the vinegar is gentle and mild, the natural sweetness of the rice itself comes through without adding any sugar. The nigiri is a little larger than Edomae-style, and the low sourness and saltiness yields a light flavor. The alcohol on offer is primarily Japanese sake. Aside from 'Hiroki' from Fukushima Prefecture and 'Jikon' from Mie Prefecture, local sake such as 'Kachikoma' and 'Haneya' are also available, with the selection being carefully selected from all over the country to match the season perfectly.

With a small, unassuming sign out front, the interior of ""Sushi Namba"" is only 10 counter seats and a private tatami room for up to 8 people.     お寿司も美味しかった(特に後半ののどぐろ以降はあまり食べたことがなかったので)ですが、他のお客様も交えて大変楽しい雰囲気の中で食事ができました。富山えびが食べられなかったのが残念。次回、機会があったら是非ディナーで訪問させていただきたいと思います。
