Sushi with passion by the owner who was once an immediate wholesaler in Tsukiji fish market

20 minutes on foot from Kichijōji Station, lies the Edo-style sushi restaurant "Sakita". The owner-chef, Kotaro Sakita opened his sushi restaurant in Kichijōji in 2017 after practicing under a sushi restaurant, before gaining more experience of Asahi Suisan in Tsukiji fish market—an immediate wholesaler for fresh fish—to further his understanding. All of the fish are handpicked by Sakita himself, are in–season, and are of the finest quality. He provides his undivided attention to his work, wasting no effort on gathering fish that tastes good to him, and on bringing out their natural flavors to the fullest.

Once inside, there are 8 seats at the counter, and shoes are to be taken off before being seated, following the traditional Japanese style. The atmosphere is reminiscent of a Japanese tea room, with a sunken Kotatsu–style counter made from pine, shaped into a soft curve, and different trees planted on every corner. The homey atmosphere created by Mr. Sakita and his wife, working side by side with just the two of them, provides for the perfect moment to relax and enjoy sushi, paired with seasonal sake. Mr. Sakita’s words speak of his deep knowledge and passion for fish, and savoring the delicacies while enjoying such conversations, is just another one of the charms "Sakita" holds. We would like you to experience the finest hand-picked ingredients and passion for sushi, with your own taste buds.
