Sumptuous Italian from the founder of a famous pizzeria

The branch of "Pizzeria Da Gaetano," the world's only independent branch of the original restaurant of the same name in Ischia, the birthplace of Neapolitan pizza, "Griglia Di Gaetano" opened its doors in 2014. While "Pizzeria Da Gaetano" specializes in pizza, "Griglia Di Gaetano" focuses on quality local ingredients, catering to grown-up tastes. Head chef Naoki Sakata returned to his hometown of Fukuoka after working at French and Italian restaurants in Osaka and Kobe for ten years, and with the opening of the new restaurant, is now enjoying the chance to show off his skills.

The mission of "Griglia Di Gaetano" is to always provide cuisine to accommodate its patrons. By allowing room for conversation and striving to provide the right dish for a diner's tastes or a given situation, one can create unique specialties for that day only, says Sakata. The restaurant is also committed to using only the highest quality ingredients, including Munakata beef from Susuki Farm, which Gaetano has been using since its founding, as well as 100% pesticide-free, organic Furusato Sapori Italian vegetables. The chef even visits the market himself every morning in search of the freshest seafood. The result is Italian cuisine unique to Kyushu. One of the fan favorite dishes is grilled Munakata wagyu beef—the restaurant purchases large cuts of meat which are then cut into smaller pieces presented to the customer and grilled at optimum temperature. There is a large selection of red and white wines from various parts of Italy; 80% of the restaurant's lineup of wines are Italian, with vintage wines from Piedmont and Tuscany on offer.

The restaurant's chic and sophisticated interior includes counter seating at the chef's table, an L-shaped bar counter, table seating, sofa seating, and terrace seating. "Griglia Di Gaetano" is a good choice for almost any situation—whether you're looking to sit down for a full meal or just stop in for a casual drink.
