A 10-minute walk from JR Kyoto Station. ""Kyoto Hyoto Kyoto Ekimae"" Restaurant is on Nishinotoin Dori, south of Shichijo, a walkable distance from Kyoto Station. This is a residential area, so quiet that you would not imagine it was within walking distance of the station. While the exterior of the stand-alone building is black and heavy looking, take a step inside and you’ll find a stylish, modern space that is unified with silver leaf and unfinished wood.

The menu offers are the range of courses to suit different budgets and tastes, including seasonal Kyoto-style kaiseki cuisine prepared by a world gourmet guide awarded chef. The restaurant puts particularly great effort into its house specialty, dashi-shabu, an original dish that came into being when ""Kyoto Hyoto"" first opened for business. Thinly sliced Wagyu Kobe beef, Wagyu Matsuzaka beef, or Hakkinton pork are added to a specially made stock born from the techniques of Japanese cuisine and based on a stock made of kelp and bonito flakes to create shabu-shabu, which is eaten with generous amounts of green onion. The fragrant flavor of the dashi stock is coupled with the sweetness and tastiness of the meat. Despite being traditional, this creates a completely new taste that revolutionizes existing Japanese cuisine. We invite you to savor a new way of enjoying dashi stock, an ingredient that is indispensable to Kyoto cuisine.

The restaurant interior is unified through the use of silver leaf and unfinished wood to create a bright and elegant decor. The first floor has tables and semi-private rooms with sunken kotatsu tables, while the second floor has fully private rooms with tables, making this the perfect spot for entertaining overseas guests or for meeting up for business entertainment or celebrations. ""Kyoto Hyoto"" also has two courtyards—one with bamboo and black pebbles from Nachi and one with white pebbles. The restaurant has been designed so that all seats have courtyard views. All staff, including the kimono-clad proprietress, are dressed in Japanese clothing and are able to converse with guests in basic English.     普段、つゆしゃぶは豚のみしか食べないのですが、今回は牛肉と豚肉の食べ比べをしてみました。 結果としてどちらのお肉も大変おいしかったです。 また、ボリュームも満点で大変満足いたしました。
