"HIGASHI-YAMA Tokyo" is a Japanese restaurant located in a single building hidden away in Meguro, Tokyo, isolated from the hustle and bustle of the inner city. In 1998, it was founded with the goal of providing a place for people to gather, talk and form new connections around food, a philosophy which remains unchanged to this day.
An ordinary residential neighborhood at the first glance, the Higashiyama area has actually fostered a surprisingly deep culture. Even now, 20 years later, the charm of Higashiyama persists. At "HIGASHI-YAMA Tokyo", household and local dishes from all over Japan undergo modern reinterpretations and are served in an elegant yet simple style as Japanese cuisine reflecting the Tokyo of today. At lunchtime, guests can discover everything from special course lunches made with seasonal ingredients and only available at "HIGASHI-YAMA Tokyo" to luxurious Tamago-yaki omelets, while dinnertime features the special "Chef's Choice" course dinner. Guests are invited to enjoy simple, honest cuisine made with seasonal ingredients and paired with Japanese sake, Shochu and wine.
In addition, one significant feature is that the restaurant engages in its own design of everything from the interior space to the flatware in order to maximize the enjoyment of the dining experience. Most of the flatware used at "HIGASHI-YAMA Tokyo" is produced in cooperation with artisans using special traditional Japanese techniques. With counter seating surrounding the open kitchen, a high-ceilinged and, dining area and smaller Japanese-style rooms for groups, the venue can accommodate almost any dining scenario, from private dining to business meals and even large parties. In addition, at the "Lounge" bar, located downstairs, guests can enjoy a relaxing moment with a seasonal cocktail or one of the carefully-selected sakes.
