A sushi restaurant run by Chef Igarashi from Sapporo “Shimoyami Tenaeizuru”, who is recognized as a genius and a sushi connoisseur

“Sushi Konatahanata” is located near Nakajima Park, within a reasonable walking distance from Susukino in downtown Sapporo. This sushi restaurant is owned by Hikaru Igarashi (Hikaru Igarashi), the chef of “Shimoyami Tenaeizuru”, and is located on the same premises.

Owner Igarashi is often called the genius of Sapporo, Shimoyami Tenaeizuru which features mainly fish from Hokkaido. They are popular for their original dishes which are taken from the genre of French cuisine. He is also known as a sushi connoisseur who eats over 400 pieces of sushi a year. He was so attached to sushi that the course in Shimoyami Tenaeizuru offers dishes such as "Tuna roll". This passion for sushi has led to chef Hirano Katsumi being invited to lead the newly-opened, long-cherished sushi restaurant Sushi Konatahanata in 2020.

The restaurant's name “Konatahanata” means "here and there". It represents the concept of purchasing seafood and other ingredients from all over the country. Owner Igarashi, who knows every market in Hokkaido, purchases all the ingredients. He also makes vinegared rice himself, using rice from Asahikawa in Hokkaido and carefully blended vinegar.

The drink menu is almost the same as Sushi Konatahanata. They specialize in natural French wine as well as shochu and sake from Hokkaido. There are 500 types of wine. It is rare to find a sushi restaurant with such a wide variety of wine in Japan. Under Chef Igarashi's policy that only those who are acquainted with the producers of the wine are allowed to drink the wine at his restaurants, and he has been visiting French wine producers to exchange information.

The restaurant is located behind Shimoyami Tenaeizuru and there is also a private entrance. Like Shimoyami Tenaeizuru, the quiet tearoom-like interior has an L-shaped counter made of solid white wood (5 seats), with a hori-kotatsu style. Despite the serious atmosphere, the welcome is warm at Sushi Konatahanata: "Please feel free to visit us". You can enjoy a relaxing and peaceful time here, and enjoy the blessings of the land of Hokkaido for various occasions such as dining and dating with your family, friends and colleagues, business entertainment and with guests from overseas.
