A 5-minute walk from Daikanyama Station in Tokyo, “Ristorante ASO” features a garden with beautiful seasonal flowers and a yellow exterior wall. It is a mansion Italian restaurant where Taku Takashina, who is also the apprentice Tatsuji Aso, serves as the head chef and studied hard at the Hiramatsu Group, which leads the Japanese restaurant scene.
Chef Takashina joined Hiramatsu Group upon graduating from a vocational school and was trained at several Hiramatsu Group restaurants, including "Ristorante ASO", "Daikanyama ASO Celeste Futakotamagawa/Nihonbashi " and Osaka " La Fête Hiramatsu". After studying in the Italian 3-star "Ristorante Gualtiero Marchesi" Paris restaurant, he became the head chef at "Ristorante ASO" again in 2017.
The concept is classic modern Italian cuisine that expresses chef Takashina himself, while valuing traditional Italian cuisine and local cuisine. Chef Takashina's creative cuisine is rooted in the Hiramatsu philosophy of "Cooking is the instantaneous art of expressing one's sensibility," and aims to make you remember what you ate. The restaurant uses carefully-selected ingredients after understanding producer’s feelings. In particular, selected first-class Italian products such as porcini, white truffles and cured ham are used. In addition, “Cold pasta with caviar” and “Spaghetti with dried mullet roe” are specialties that have been loved for a long time and are also the signature menu of "ASO" brand restaurants. There is a wide variety of wine from France and Italy. As for non-alcoholic drinks, the "ASO Special Tomato Juice", which is made from the best tomatoes from Hokkaido and has a high sugar content, has an excellent balance of sweetness and sourness. In addition, the restaurant also invites wine producers, talented musicians, and other people who fit the ASO brand, and actively hold events where they can enjoy together with a special menu.
At lunchtime, the inside of the restaurant is brighten with sunlight coming in through the large windows. There are 45 tables in the main dining on the 1st floor and private room that can accommodate up to 20 people on the 2nd floor. There is also a party salon with 110 seats behind the main dining. It is a calm and elegant space that is hard to believe it is in Tokyo. It is perfect for dining with family and friends, as well as for dates, business scenes, anniversaries and other important occasions.
