A five-minute walk from Tokyo Metro Iidabashi Station, diners will find Komiyama Sou hidden away. For diners who adore yakiniku, the restaurant’s name may ring a bell; Komiyama Sou opened in June 2020 as a sister site of Yakiniku Komiyama in Nishiazabu.
The talented Ran Fujimoto heads up the restaurant’s kitchen. The young chef, who turns 20 in 2020, first fell in love with the style of cuisine when he joined the original Yakiniku Komiyama in Nishiazabu. He trained under Hideki Komiyama, sharpening his skills. Together, the chefs go to the meat market in Shibaura in order to buy first-class Omi beef, the same meat used in Yakiniku Komiyama.
The restaurant offers seven red wines and five white wines that are prepared with yakiniku, and champagne such as Krug is also available. Meanwhile, Japanese sake from Shinsei or Jikon also pairs beautifully with meat.
Visually, a nuanced interior finish creates an antique feel that’s delightfully unexpected. The restaurant offers a semi-private room with three tables seating up to four; two regular tables for four diners, and a single table for two. Equally suited for business entertainment and dates, the restaurant also lends itself well to celebrations and anniversaries.
