A gorgeous restaurant in Nishiazabu where guests can enjoy classic French dining in a beautifully-appointed space reminiscent of Europe’s grand mansions

An eight-minute walk from Roppongi Station, in a quiet neighbourhood just one block from the main street, is the Tokyo branch of L’Auberge de L’ill, a one star French restaurant in Alsace that has been established for over 100 years.

Designed and decorated to perfectly capture the spirit of grand European mansions, the establishment was created in collaboration with the Hiramatsu Co, which develops luxury restaurants and hotels in Tokyo and across Japan.

Leading the kitchen is chef Yasutaka Sakai, who hails from Niigata Prefecture. He joined Hiramatsu Corporation in 2011. He has worked at "Daikanyama ASO Celeste Futakotamagawa" and "Maison Paul Bocuse" as sous chef before becoming sous chef at "Auberge de l'Ile Tokyo" in February 2019, and in April 2023, he was selected as head chef.

The menu is based on the cuisine of the most famous restaurants in Alsace, but makes the most of the excellent Japanese ingredients to create a menu unique to Tokyo. For example, the popular pie-wrapped "Beef Tenderloin with Foie Gras and Truffles" uses local beef rather than the gibier meat found in French recipes. The combination of quality Wagyu beef, French foie gras, and truffles makes this dish one of the restaurant's most confident creations.

The Hiramatsu Co. shares the curve of directly importing and storing wine from makers across France, 200 types of wine are always available for guests, such as champagne, red, white and rose.

From the entrance, guests ascend a spiral staircase to a beautifully-appointed 40-seat dining room. In addition, a private room that accommodates up to 12 guests is available on the second floor. Diners and epicures are invited to visit this gorgeous restaurant on a special day with family, friends, couples, colleagues, where they will be able to fully enjoy the unusual atmosphere together with traditional, upscale French cuisine.
