Located on the first floor of a stylish glass-walled building on a narrow street near Nishiazabu Crossing, Yakiniku Ushigoro Nishiazabu (main location) has built a loyal following of patrons since opening in April 2011 for featuring the highest A5-grade Japanese Kuroge Wagyu beef.

Yakiniku Ushigoro places the most emphasis on the quality of its meat. The beef served at the restaurant is lusciously fatty, beautifully marbled, and subtly sweet. The beef is carefully selected through repeated consultations with reliable intermediate buyers to procure only the best of the highest A5-grade Japanese Kuroge Wagyu beef available. The meat is not sourced from specific brands but from a variety of top producers to offer high-quality rare cuts of beef at any time. Cuts that require special cooking techniques are grilled by staff, while other cuts are grilled by customers on the table with assistance from staff.

Among the menu items, thin-sliced superior beef tongue (specifically the root), which is only available at the Nishiazabu main location, is a must-try. As cuts go, beef tongue root is rare and precious, and its flavor improves as it is grilled more.

The drinks menu offers a wide selection of wines as well as sake, shochu spirits, fruit wines, and makkoli to meet the demands of different customers. A carefully curated wine list consists of 9 whites and 25 reds sourced from around the world, including Napa in the U.S., France, Spain, Australia, and New Zealand. Guests can also ask the resident sommelier for pairing recommendations to enjoy with their A5-grade Wagyu beef.

With smokeless roasters on the tables, the dining room offers a luxurious, yet comfortable and relaxing atmosphere not typically found at most BBQ restaurants. The restaurant offers 73 table seats as well as 4 semi-private rooms and one completely separate room for business dinners and special occasions. Moreover, careful attention is paid to details to reduce customers’ stress – for example, the restaurant offers chopsticks with tapered tips so that customers can pick up delicate items such as caviar.
