XEX ATAGO GREEN HILLS is a restaurant perched on the 42nd floor of Atago Green Hills Mori Tower, a few minutes’ walk from Onarimon Station on the Toei Mita Line and Kamiyacho Station on the Tokyo Metro Hibiya Line in Minato Ward.
Opened in 2001, the restaurant stands at 180 meters high, taller than the Tokyo Tower Observatory, and commands a panoramic view of the city skyline, the Tokyo Bay Area, and Skytree, as well as Mount Fuji on sunny days. Once night falls, the entire space is wrapped in a romantic ambience with sparkling nightscapes set against the backdrop of the restaurant’s floor-to-ceiling windows.
XEX ATAGO GREEN HILLS features three different areas with distinct concepts. First, Salvatore Cuomo Bros offers world-class Italian dishes, and is one of the few restaurants in Japan to use a Josper charcoal oven, heated only by charcoal, to cook fresh seafood and steaks. Second, tempura & sushi specialist An is a counter service restaurant where guests can enjoy tempura, Edomae sushi, sukiyaki, shabu-shabu, and other outstanding Japanese dishes, along with Japanese culture, such as live performances from koto harpists. Finally, the bar offers beautiful nightscapes and cocktails as well as snacks and dishes from the aforementioned restaurants. For guests, it offers a cozy space with live piano music and international singers daily.
The drinks menu offers a wide selection of beers, wines, champagnes, cognacs, whiskies, cocktails, and sake. A dazzling array of wines are available to guests via over 700 different varieties store in the venue’s wine cellar, with a variety of precious sake available to order, including the popular Kokuryu Series and IWA created by a head brewer responsible for Dom Pérignon.
Each of the three areas in the restaurant boasts their own distinct design vernacular. For example, An features a relaxing Japanese-style interior with lattice accents made of Bincho charcoal and a dry landscape garden. The restaurant as a whole consists of a sushi counter with 16 seats and a tempura counter with 12 seats, as well as 26 table seats and 4 private rooms. The counter spaces are separated from other areas and can be reserved for exclusive use.
