A one-star kappo (Japanese cuisine) restaurant where you can enjoy a heartwarming taste and offering the palate-tingling dishes of Naniwa

Syouroku is a Naniwa kappo (Osaka-style) restaurant located near Utsubo Park, just a 5-minute walk from Hommachi Station in the business district of Osaka. The restaurant was opened in March 2019 by chef Masato Shimoda, who had started his culinary training at a Kyoto cuisine restaurant and further honed his skills at other restaurants including Gensai in Kobe. Kigawa Syouroku (closed), has been loved by many guests for 33 years, and after a change, Masato fascinates them with his father's craftsmanship.

As per the saying that “Kyoto cuisine highlights the natural flavors of the ingredients, and Naniwa cuisine delights the palates of diners,” Syouroku explores how to excite his guests’ palates from the first to the last bite.
The menu is characterized by highlighting the natural taste of ingredients, such as the bitterness and sweetness of vegetables, to create flavorful dishes, rather than relying on heavy seasonings. Ingredients are carefully selected by the chef himself, who visits markets daily to gather seasonal local vegetables, such as bamboo shoots from Kishiwada and young burdocks from Yao, and purchases locally caught fish and shellfish. The restaurant’s specialty is the original Crab Cream Croquette that the chef developed by learning from his father about the Japanese-style croquette of Kigawa. It is popular among the restaurant’s regulars for its thick white sauce in an abalone shell singing with the rich flavors of fish and shellfish, accented by the original sauce and crispy exterior. The drink menu always offers six labels of precious sake, carefully selected by the chef from across Japan.
Featuring a pure Japanese design with a hint of modernity, the restaurant places guests at a counter crafted from Japanese horse chestnut with seven seats on the first floor, and a private dining room with a low horigotatsu table (table over a hole in the floor) that seats up to 10 guests on the second floor.

The restaurant is a perfect setting for various occasions, such as business dinners, date nights, anniversaries, solo meals, and intimate family gatherings with children.
Guests are invited to savor the palate-tingling dishes of Naniwa in a friendly, relaxing atmosphere typical to Osaka at Syouroku, where the refined culinary techniques of the innovative cooking skills of chef is on full display.
