A Japanese restaurant known for its friendly proprietor and proprietress and organic rice from her home place

A three-minute walk from Osaka Tenmangu Station, Oryori Miyamoto is located on a side street a few steps from Tenjinbashi-Suji Shopping Street known as the longest shopping street in Japan. Daisuke Miyamoto, the proprietor and chef of the restaurant, studied culinary arts at Nakamura Culinary School and further trained at a Japanese cooking restaurant in Osaka before he opened his own restaurant, Miyamoto, in June 2012 with his wife, Sachiyo, who was his classmate at Nakamura Culinary School. The restaurant attracts food lovers from around Japan with its dishes created based on traditional Japanese cuisine and enhanced with a touch of originality.

As the owner-chef says, “This is a place to enjoy tasty food in a casual atmosphere,” the warm-hearted, friendly proprietor and proprietress will make you feel at ease even at your first visit. The Japanese dishes are created with great care and attention to detail to bring out the flavor of each ingredient and enhanced with a touch of creativity, such as French-inspired Japanese gelée. The chef’s specialty, White Rice Cooked in the Earthen Pot, features Yumetsukushi, chemical-free, organic rice grown by the proprietress’s parents in Kumamoto. The vegetables are also mainly sourced from them, and the beef from a friend who runs an Akaushi cattle farm in Kumamoto. Thus, Miyamoto’s dishes are made in cooperation with those close to the proprietor and proprietress.
The sake is tasted and purchased from a reliable sake shop every day, selected by the proprietress, who is skilled at sake tasting, to fit the foods and the preferences of guests. Miyamoto also offers carefully selected cold-brew Chinese teas.

The interior designed by an architect renowned for his work in the style of sukiya (tea ceremony house) is elegant and classy. The floor under the eight-seat counter made of solid chestnut wood is dug out so that guests can stretch out their legs in it with their shoes off while dining. The plates, bowls, and sake glasses are selected by the owner-chef, ranging from antiques to hand-crafted works by contemporary artists.
Miyamoto is the perfect place to dine with your date, enjoy your own company, and entertain your important guests. Savor the subtle and traditional Japanese dishes in a friendly atmosphere full of smiles there.
