""Kannonura"", is known as one of the most popular tourist spots in Tokyo is located behind the Senso-ji temple. In this area where the atmosphere of an old-fashioned street remains, it is said that there are many hidden, famous restaurants and eateries. This is where Yakitori TORI bien is located and is a restaurant with rising popularity since opening in August 2012.
Restaurant owner Satoshi Handa honed his skills for 9 years at famous world gourmet guide award yakitori restaurant, Birdland. They use Kaiji Shamo chicken from Yamanashi prefecture. Limiting stock to cocks that have a stronger flavor and less fat than a hen, the chicken is purchased as a whole and prepared at the restaurant. The meat is very fresh, with rare parts such as Sori (a ping-pong ball sized muscle inside the pelvis), Tsuru (neck meat), and Kiwa, seasoned and prepared at its optimal state, and also grilled at the optimal temperature.
The Omakase Course includes homemade liver pate, 4 types of seasonal appetizers, yakitori and grilled vegetables, salad and chicken soup. Handa himself went through the tasting process and selected Japanese sake and wine that will go well with the exquisite course, which includes originally-arranged liver pate inherited from Birdland and pepper-grilled chicken thigh that goes well with sauce. In addition, the last dish, ramen noodles made with Kaiji Shamo chicken soup, is also popular. Receiving advice from popular ramen shops within the metropolitan area, Handa decided to use homemade noodles.
In the vivid store where the wall is painted in a vermillion color, there are 18 counter seats and 4 table seats. Handa’s warm personality while grilling yakitori makes the atmosphere homey and many use this place for a girls’ night out or for dates. The bright and fun atmosphere along with delicious yakitori in an extraordinary space will definitely make your Kannonura night a special one.
