Highlighting the very best of Cantonese cuisine, Karin Chinese Restaurant is renowned for combining Japanese ingredients with Chinese cooking philosophies

A one-minute walk from Tameike-Sanno station is Karin, located on the 3rd floor of ANA InterContinental Hotel Tokyo. Karin upholds the Chinese cooking philosophies “food and medicine is one and the same” and “many colors and varieties” through providing authentic Chinese food that adheres to the delicate Japanese palate. The restaurant is proud to source many of their ingredients locally, evident in dishes such as the Fujian Fried Rice and Stir-fried Shrimp, which utilize fresh abalone from the Misaki fishing port in Kanagawa as well as Ise lobsters.

Head Chef, Takeshi Okubo, is a talented culinary artist who once defeated Chinese Cooking Master Kenichi Chen on the world-renowned cooking show Iron Chef. Alongside his culinary team, their most popular dishes are the 40 different varieties of Hong Kong yum cha. In addition to Cantonese cuisine, Chef Okubo takes inspiration from all over China, including Shanghai, Szechuan, Beijing, and Chaozhou. Not only do their dishes have an elegant taste that stays true to their origins, they are also presented in a way that is visually appealing.

For the perfect alcohol pairing, the sommelier can make an excellent recommendation. From an intense red to a mellow white or your classic Shaoxing rice wine, Karin’s extensive wine list will be sure to accentuate your decadent meal.

With a design that incorporates curved lines, the restaurant interior is simple yet dynamic, housing a total of 188 seats. There are four main areas with different fixtures and furniture, allowing you to choose a setting that suits your purposes and mood. In addition to private rooms with 16 seats and premium rooms with 6 seats, there is also a hall that can seat anywhere from 2 to 60 people through the use of sliding partitions. Karin can accommodate any occasion and any celebration, including anniversary dinners, family gatherings, business negotiations and entertainment, parties, and banquets. With both English-speaking and Chinese-speaking staff, we hope to introduce to tourists from all over the world, the opportunity to enjoy this unique blend of Chinese cuisine, found only in Japan.
