Approximately 15 minutes walk from Demachiyanagi station, Keihan Main Line in Kyoto. On the east side of the forest spreading around Kamomioya Jinja(Shimogamo-Jinja),a UNESCO World Heritage Site, there is a long-established store of Kyoto Cuisine Kaiseki called "Shimogamo Saryo".

Founded in 1856, the chef of this venerable restaurant has served in Shimogamo Shrine for few generations. The Sukiya-zukuri style buildings with tells the story of history. When you pass through the entrance curtain, a refined tea room with exquisite furnishing is there welcoming you. The garden which has been maintained for over hundreds of years makes you feel the beauty that only in Kyoto. Spring, summer, Autumn and Winter, a wonderful location where you can see the elegant Takano River under the eyes of "Shimogamo Saryo".
