A famous 3-star Kyoto restaurant with local cuisine that values the spirit of "ichi-go ichi-e", the once in a life-time encounter

Located a short distance from Kyoto's Oike Street, a quiet restaurant with a white curtain is "Ichiko Soden Nakamura". Once you pass through the noren, the atmosphere changes from the bustle outside, and you step on the stone pavement with sprinkled water to the entrance.
The restaurant was established in the early 19th century during the Bunka-Bunsei period (1818-1830), when fresh fish, mackerel, and other seafood from Wakasa Bay were brought to Kyoto via the "Saba Kaido" (mackerel road) and served to court nobles and other court officials. The current owner is the sixth generation, Tomokazu Nakamura. After graduating from university, he studied nutritional science in the master's program at Kyoto University in pursuit of culinary delicacies.
His cuisine focuses on enhancing the taste, color, and aroma of the ingredients, and his "White Miso Zoni," which is prepared without using soup stock or seasonings, and "Guji no Sakeyaki," which is grilled with a layer of sake, are dishes that can only be tasted here.
Along with the meal, we would like you to taste "Soukou" made by Haneda Sake Brewery in Kitayama, Kyoto. The best sake is brewed in a special barrel for "Ichiko Soden Nakamura".
The interior of the restaurant, where you can enjoy your meal and sake, is a purely Japanese building with tatami rooms, horigotatsu (table with a hole in the middle), and tables. We hope you will enjoy not only the food but also the space with those you share it with.
