Enjoy delicate Japanese cuisine and tempura at the dynamic counter seats

Tenmasa, a tempura and Japanese cuisine restaurant nestled in the basement, just a few minutes from Naka-Meguro Station. The owner, Masahiko Ashiki, founded his own restaurant in 2012 and continues to acquire and maintain starred ratings from gourmet guide to this day.

The interior of the restaurant is a simple, modern space accented with a granite counter-top. Various types of seating are available, a counter seating where guests can enjoy the live performance of tempura being prepared in front of you, a casual table seating and a private room where guests can slip into a relaxed conversation.

By making a reservation ahead of time, guests can choose their choice of seating depending on any events like dining, entertaining or celebrating the big moments in life. The tempura, the main entree in the monthly-changing course varies based on the blending ratio of the frying oils and the season. The oils blended are Taihaku Sesame Oil, which is extracted without roasting the sesame seeds, and Daiko Sesame Oil, which features an elegant, roasted fragrance and a beautiful amber coloring. The frying pot, with its superior heat conduction and retention capabilities, is made of gun metal.

The owner puts his heart and soul into frying his ingredients in just the right way to bring out their full flavors and ensures to reach the mouths of his guests at just the right timing. As an essential part of Japanese cuisine, the owner places special attention to the soup broth made from the finest Rausu Kombu kelp and carefully-trimmed bonito. The selection of Japanese spirits is based around favorites from the owner's home prefecture of Aichi as well as selection of the most exquisite from Japan's famous brands to best accompany the tempura. This famous tempura restaurant in Naka-Meguro is the perfect place for an important dining scene.
