In Daikanyama, which is filled with small, fashion-forward boutiques and trendy cafes, L'eclaireur sits on a side street that is a five-minute walk from Daikanyama Station on the Tokyu Toyoko Line or a 10 minute-walk from JR Shibuya and Ebisu Stations.
The restaurant is helmed by Chef Ichiei Taguma, who was born in 1981 and apprenticed for 10 years at world-renowned restaurants, first in Tokyo and then in France, including David Toutain and Le Cinq. He opened his own restaurant, L'eclaireur, in 2021 and earned the title of Grand Chef of Tomorrow from a world-famous restaurant guide in 2022.
L'eclaireur offers modern dishes influenced by French classics and traditions. Born in Fukuoka, Chef Taguma mainly sources his ingredients from his home region of Kyushu, including Black Satsuma Chicken from Kagoshima. The most prominent feature of his restaurant is its fire-wood oven sitting at the center of the kitchen. Guests can watch aged beef (e.g., Yamagata beef) being grilled in the oven while enjoying their dishes. The urban style food is even further elevated by plates crafted by Risogama in Arita, Saga. A variety of white plates engraved in elegant geometric patterns reminiscent of twigs and decorated with colorful sauces invite guests to explore the extraordinary world of flavors.
The wine list offers 170 to 180 different labels by the bottle and 20 to 30 by the glass, mainly from France. The selection of wines by Chef Taguma and Sommelier Shinji Takano, from both Grand Cru and new wineries, indicates their respect for the wine country. The drink menu also includes alcoholic and non-alcoholic beverages to pair with food. The non-alcoholic drink menu features a kombu tea-based cocktail as well as organic teas from Kagoshima.
The modern interior in white and pastel blue tones is filled with sunshine during the day and glows with soft light at night. Here, the dining experience is further spiced up by delicious smells wafting from the fire-wood oven in the open kitchen.
Many guests are primarily attracted by Chef Taguma’s dishes, which add a touch of color to anniversary celebrations, date nights, and intimate gatherings. Please relish the dining experience with delicious food in a sophisticated atmosphere at L'eclaireur.
