With its bright façade facing Gaien Higashi Street in Roppongi, one of the most spectacular neighborhoods in the international city of Tokyo, SeRieUX is conveniently located three minutes on foot from Tokyo Metro Nogizaka Station and five minutes on foot from Roppongi Station. The floor-to-ceiling windows on the façade and the skylights on the ceiling allow soft natural light to enter the dining room during the day and reflect the glowing neon lights of Roppongi at night. These windows also allow diners at the counter to feel the street vibes.

Helmed by a Tokyo-born chef, Tetsuo Otsuka, who honed his culinary skills at L'ATELIER de Joël Robuchon, Roppongi, and worked as sous chef at Pierre Gagnaire, Akasaka, and as chef at L'Embellir in Omotesando, SeRieUX offers casual French cuisine featuring seasonal ingredients from around Japan. Keeping in mind the teachings of his master, Naoto Kishimoto, Chef Otsuka aspires to incorporate Japanese ingredients into French cuisine. The appetizers are light and colorful. In contrast, the entrées inspired by traditional French cuisine, such as Harvest Fish with Sauce Beurre Blanc and Veal Chops with Sauce Périgueux, are rich and substantial.
The ingredients are mainly sourced from Japan but also from France, including veal, buckwheat flour, and salt. The fact that the chef imports specialties from Bourgogne, France, where he honed his culinary skills, demonstrates his devotion to French cuisine. While adding Japanese seasonings, such as miso and yuzu chili paste, to enrich the flavors, he transforms the ingredients into authentic French dishes. As represented by the restaurant’s name, SeRieUX, which means “serious” in French, his serious approach to cooking is reflected in his exquisite dishes.

The drink menu curated by Sommelier, mainly consists of wines that will elevate the flavors of the dishes made by Chef Otsuka. There is also a food and drink pairing menu that includes not only French wines but also Californian wines and Japanese sake. In addition, freshly squeezed citrus juices and Taiwanese tea are offered to guests who prefer non-alcoholic drinks.

The dining space with a 20-seat counter features a modern, woody decor. The windows on the façade are adorned with impressive square-shaped lattices, along with a touch of greenery, to allow natural light in while shielding guests from unwanted views. The restaurant has English-speaking staff for international guests and can accommodate children above the age of 10 for lunch and 16 for dinner, if requested in advance. In addition, attracting diverse clientele due to its location, the restaurant is also designed for various occasions, such as entertaining dinners with guests from Japan and abroad, dates, intimate meals with friends, and gourmet gatherings.
